How to Buy
We are an approachable, family-run business always keen to welcome new clients as well as our regular auction addicts, so if you have any questions about how to buy, or about the lots themselves, we are always keen to give friendly, honest advice - just ask
Before placing a bid:
Register with us to obtain a bidding number - ID will be required
The condition of lots is not specified in the catalogue descriptions.
PLEASE NOTE IT IS UP TO THE BUYER TO SATISFY THEMSELVES AS TO THE CONDITION OF A LOT PRIOR TO PLACING A BID - ALL LOTS ARE SOLD AS SEEN. Our valuers are available during the week prior to the auction and up to 8pm on Friday to answer any questions about an item and to email close up images of any wear/damage on request
Bidding in person:
The best way to bid is in person on the day of the auction. The auction is open for viewing on Friday from 9am - 8pm and on auction day from 9am. Auctions commence at 10am. Simply register with us at reception and obtain a bidding number prior to the auction. Directions to the auction room can be found on the Contact Us page
Bidding online:
You can bid live online via the-saleroom.com. Register with them to listen, watch and bid at our auctions. All bids are subject to an additional 3% plus VAT buyers premium
Commission Bids:
If you are unable to attend on auction day, it is possible to authorise us to bid on your behalf, by completing a bid form and stating your maximum bid. We will execute your bids as cheaply as possible, taking into account any other bids and/or reserves. This can be done in person on viewing day, or online via our Catalogues page. Please ensure you are registered as a buyer and have a current bidding number before placing a bid. ID will be required
Telephone Bids:
It is possible to bid over the telephone on selected lots, of estimated value over £500. All telephone bids must be arranged in advance and are strictly at our discretion
Buyer’s Premium:
All bids are subject to buyer’s premium of 15% plus VAT. All bids submitted via the-saleroom.com incur an additional fee of 3% plus VAT
Payment and Collection:
All items must be paid for and collected by 6pm on auction day or by 5pm on the following Monday.
Payment can be made by phone with a debit card (credit cards 2% charge)
