Attributed to Peter Behrens (German 1868-1940), a pair of carved teak open armchairs, circa 1902, each with a carved splat and padded seat on tapered legs. Peter Behrens is one the foremost 20th century architects working in the early 20th century in Germany. The designs for these chairs are comparable to those included in his dining room suite executed by Anton Bluggel, in Berlin for the Moderne Wohnungskunst exhibition, Warrenhaus, Wertheim, in 1902.
